STUDENTS DESERVE BETTER

Only 39% of Jersey City 3rd Graders Read on Grade Level

Despite Jersey City spending more than most districts, students are still falling behind in the basics. Our children deserve better, and it’s time for change.

.

Team McGreevey’s Promise:

We Will Put Our Tax Dollars Where They Belong—Into Our Children’s Future.

CURRENT FISCAL ISSUES:

 Jersey City’s Education Budget Issues:

  • Spending: Jersey City spends $36,062 per student, higher than the state average, yet academic performance remains low.
  • Budget Deficit: The district faces a $100 million budget shortfall despite increased spending.
  • Teacher Retention: High turnover rates and growing class sizes impact quality education
  • Transparency Issues: Financial reporting lacks clarity, reducing public accountability.

AUDIT FINDINGS:

State Audits Found Fiscal Issues in JCPS:

  • Payroll Failures: Missing timesheets, overtime errors, unverified checks since 2019.
  • Accounting Irregularities: Back-dated checks, unrecorded liabilities, invalid liens.
  • Unrecorded Programs: Major energy-saving initiatives omitted, costing taxpayers millions.
  • Budget Mismanagement: Funds misallocated, reducing resources for schools and students.

THE CHOICE IS CLEAR:

Jersey City has the resources. What we’ve been missing is leadership, accountability, and a plan. Jim McGreevey has the proven experience and vision to deliver.
